Vintage Samplers are the sound designing producer’s secret weapon. Even just loading a drum or synth sample onto the right vintage sampler adds a grit, punch, and tone that is unachievable using traditional processing. The digital conversion shapes a sample in a way that makes it much more ‘production-ready’. When that is combined with the awesome filters, unique pitch shifting algorithms, and advanced editing and processing capabilities of these machines, it makes for some seriously unique and exciting sounds.
For this pack loaded up 3 classic samplers with one shots and used the conversion, filtering, and shifting to transform them into a pack of sounds that are punchy and bold, crispy and dirty – perfect for boom bap, classic techno, house, or for your modern pop productions. All of these samples were recorded back through an analog signal chain using mastering grade conversion.

S612:
The S612 is a massively underrated 12bit sampler from 1985 that yields endlessly inspiring transformations of whatever you put into it. Its features are simple but powerful: a selectable sample rate from 4 Hz – 32kHz, a sweet, analog filter, input clipping, old school pitching (with LFO), looping, reversing, and best of all: front-panel sliders for adjusting start, end and loop points. With these parameters the 612 is capable of everything from thick, juicy bass, to silky leads, overdriven drums, and lo-fi glitched out madness.
SP:
The SP is a warm and gritty 12bit sampler developed in 1987, best known for its huge contributions to golden age hip hop, classic house and french house. At 26.04 kHz sample rate, the “vinyl like” sound people describe is a combination of digital aliasing and distortion passed through a warm analog filter. Its pitch shifting sounds particularly recognizable as well and is responsible for many a classic 90s drum sound.
S950:
A chunky rack unit sampler released in 1988 and one of the first of its class to offer time stretching without affecting pitch. This machine was a favorite of early 90s hip hop producers as well as the techno gods of the era. Sounds were sampled into the 950 at varying clipping levels, sample rates, bandwidths, and bit rates.
